I always thought all the good food and hangout spots are in downtown Toronto, or surrounding areas. I was proven wrong with my recent visit at Union Social Eatery, the Sheppard/Yonge location.
Initially, my visit wasn't very pleasant, the reason being that the receptionist messed up our reservation and she sat my friends and I at different tables. Obviously, it took us some time to figure out we all arrived. Despite this little mishap, the manager quickly came and apologized with a free Mediterranean Dip Trio. This dish included a house made hummus, Kalamata tapenade, and sundried tomato and feta dip, along with crispy tortillas and grilled naan. The dips were very well combined because of the three distinguishing flavours, which kickstarted the rest of the meal. We also ordered 1/2 of Crispy Calamari that was served with a sweet chilli sauce. The only complaint is that the calamari got soggy by the time we reached the bottom of the bowl.
As for my main, I ordered the Herbed Brie Double Chicken, which came with some veggies and fries on the side. Personally, I loved this dish, the chicken was perfectly cooked with a mouthful of flavors. Not to mention that the portion was huge (for me at least).
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a casual meet-up or a good spot to catch a game. It can get very noisy though so not the best place to chit chat.
Plus, I heard great things about their rooftop patio!
